I always try to ‘up’ or outdo myself when I am making music. That’s a nice compliment, thank you for saying that. It was Rock, more Country, more expansive, more everything. We are fans of all your albums but your most recent one, ‘Hey World’ shifted your sound a little from your 2017 self-titled one. I grew up listening to songs that were like that so when I am writing a song or if I pick a song to record it’s gotta be up to that par or I’ve gotta move on or write another one that I think is! (laughing) I want stuff that is going to be around in the years to come. I don’t really gravitate towards songs that I think will be here today and gone tomorrow. Well I guess some of that is coming from me having a high bar on what songs I think are great or are classic or will be around for a while. You either have a really good team or a really good gut instinct! You have this knack of picking the right songs to release to radio, even if, like tracks like ‘Boy’, they take a while to reach to the top. People fell in love with it and even though I think it has a classic feel to it, which maybe doesn’t do as well on the charts these days, it went right up there to number one! The song has kinda got this classic feel to it and I didn’t know if people would take it as a classic kinda song or a hit number number one song. I knew it was special but I didn’t know what it was gonna do. It is! I was lucky to be asked to be a part of that song by Carly and then all of a sudden it flies up the charts and it hits number one and then it’s nominated for ACMs and CMAs and then we win ’em! (laughing) It’s been a fun ride to be a part of.ĭid you get a feeling when you cut your vocals for the song that it was going to be something special? Sounds fun for all concerned! Congratulations on your recent run of number ones and the mega-success of ‘I Hope You’re Happy Now’ – that song is just the gift that keeps on giving! You go sign up for the Casey’s Rewards and once you’re signed up, if you’re shopping at Caseys, you’re always able to win a prize.
From that point on they are eligible to win prizes through the year and the grand prize is me coming to the winner’s hometown and putting on a concert! I get to go play a full show. I love live music and the big contest involves people going along to a Casey’s and signing up for the rewards. Casey’s have had this great idea to run a summer sweepstakes that promotes live music and bringing people back together. First off, tell us all about this exciting new partnership with Casey’s.
He’s coming off the back of three consecutive number ones right now and has just announced a partnership with US supermarket brand, Casey’s, in which the winner will see Lee Brice headline a show in their own hometown! We caught up with him to talk all about it. Brice began his career, as many Nashville artists do, writing songs for the likes of Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Aldean and Chesney before he embarked on his stellar career. ‘I Drive Your Truck’, ‘I Don’t Dance’, ‘Boy’, ‘Rumour’ and recent mega-hit and award winning song with Carly Pearce ‘I Hope You’re Happy Now’. When you say that name it evokes thoughts of some of the most powerful and fun songs in Country music of the past decade.
